 At the Free Public Library, the otherwise sweet woman-librarian begins to raise her voice, "Sir! You have asked for a library card several times before; you cannot have a library card without a physical address. Sorry." At the driver's license place called NIA, in the far West-End of Louisville, the applicant is turned away IF NO LONGER HOLDING A GEO ADDRESS; more of the same as in paragraph-above. At the bank, the applicant needs to have a geographic address. At the post-office, from what I understand, one needs have a geo address in order to claim mail, a 'geo-somewhere' is needed, I suppose with ID so-showing. I am less sure about this-one, but do believe that to be eligible to vote in Kentucky, one must have a physical address here. YET!!!!   WLKY reports last night that local trade-unions are banding to rehabilitate a house for a homeless veteran ; these seem to be in connection with Habitat for Humanity and other NPO agencies. . . laudable efforts and quite rendered in a spirit of needed and uncommon altruism. BUT!!!! In Kentucky, veterans constitute just under 10% of the state homeless population, in 2020 estimated to be 399 persons of a total homeless population of 4011, according to a federal report . In Louisville, it would appear from a comparable-period report by the City and The Coalition for the Homeless, veterans constitute an even smaller portion of the total homeless-demographic=> just under 6% (5.9%, 85 persons of a total there-counted of 1421 -- noting well that other City reports have it that more than six-thousand people are homeless here) .  According to Weather Underground and the news media, this week in Louisville will be WET; from now Monday August 16 until next Sunday, we are expected to get showers and thunderstorms. It would appear that the for-me lucky dry spell that we have enjoyed in these Kentucky Dog Days will come to an interruption if not an end, and that I shall have to figure out ways to duck-in/duck-out of semi-monsoon weather here in an important effort to stay-dry. The mission in which I stay-- St. Vincent de Paul-- is of the usual sort expecting that we residents be out every day until mid-afternoon, "rain or shine," and I have been lucky to avoid getting soaked by common summer downpours, not a pleasantry for one who for example must appear in offices and clinics in a way that to non-homeless folk 'looks presentable,' but more to the point, I will do, must do to remain communicative with a cyber-world that in ideal form would benefit by hearing about my haphazard surviving on the str...
