VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN/HOMELESS=> WHAT ABOUT VIOLENCE CONTRA TRANS-WOMEN LIKE ME???

 I am enrolled at the University of Louisville, thanks-be to my own sense of what Abe Maslow called "B-values," and have-now great potential to do research at the 'bibliographic level' if not as foot-soldier doing field research on the homeless in this town, essentially as a participant observer yet with a sense of rigor as a trained social scientist who knows 'how research should be done.'

Ekstrom Library at the UL Belknap Campus is a kind of  'second home' to me, a comfortable place in which I can operate at the level that best-boosts my elan as a thinking-person, as career-student with then almost no concern that I am a look-alike-woman or moreover that I am a homeless look-alike-woman, a condition re which I have been informed, and re which with some softened reality as sheltered-homeless can well report.

"I am reading the Lit" as scientists say when beginning an empirically-aspiring assay; in searching TheWeb now at Ekstrom, I have particular interest in what-happens to women who are homeless-as-I, especially the unsheltered type of homeless woman, as I witnessed yesterday when Church-bound at the corner of ShelbyStreet and Broadway, closest to St. Martin of Tours Catholic, the ecclesia which for several conveniences as little-c catholic Angican like the-best. 

As one refers to my last entry in this web-log, the woman thus seen yesterday was barely and barely-not showing her breasts as she slept on the sidewalk, which immediately suggested to me that she (poor girl, poor grown woman I need rather to say) was imperiled for whatever physical violence that may happen to her, with-- in my view-- only slight protection if the 'physics' should happen to be at the intervention of a (male) police officer here.

Empathy. . . My breasts have with culture grown to a convincing 'D-cup' and I KNOW that if indeed I would show my 'chest' on such a street-corner hereabouts, the invitation that condition would present to rogues to 'violate me' would be nearly as strong as for the woman I encountered when Mass-bound yesterday, 10 Trinity Sunday or on the transferred feast of St. Magnus Martyr in St. Martin's).

WHAT DOES THE RECENT LITERATURE-SCIENTIFIC SAY ABOUT THE POTENTIAL FOR VIOLENT-VICTIMIZATION FOR HOMELESS WOMEN? I found this-article to of recent and telling-relevance "The Prevalence and Nature of Violence Against Women Experiencing Homelessness: A Quantitative Study" which for the convenience of my readers is cite-able as a Pub-Med article.

The article, inclusive of a survey suggesting that women who are homeless are at high risk for being violated variously and tortuously, is a research study from a Spanish geography, but does show with hundreds of population-cases that women who are homeless are victims of violence 100% per cohort; and men similarly are as well subject to violation like this some 70%. While neither the violence against men nor the violence contra women is a moral occurrence, the telling-ness of the TOTAL POPULATION OF WOMEN WHO ARE HOMELESS IN BARCELONA DOES EXPERIENCE WHAT THE PREVAILING WISDOM SAYS 

"SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN TO WOMEN."

I KNOW that in a sleeping-situation that would be "more rough" than staying in St. Vincent de Paul's, there could not be an avoidance of being abused, overweeningly by men-territorially seeking fems to dominate, to have me submit in such a victim-way. Indeed, on the third day of my short interlude in rough-sleeping, having been unfitting-the-criterion for admission to The Center for Women and Families (taking transF people, officially) OR The Healing Place for Women (also taking transF folk, but NOT LETTING ME PHONE MY EVICTION-LAWYER AND SOCIAL JUSTICE ADVOCATE NIMA-KULKARNI, WHO IS AS WELL A KY STATE REPRESENTATIVE), I had to camp down at the Ohio River McAlpin Dam just long enough to have been clubbed and whipped by a man in the homeless camp just out of the woods where I happened to have "plopped"-- netting my forced march nude down Main Street here until a kindly and OK cop took me for 'safekeeping'  into a mental-health venue.

I HAVE NO "STATS" ON THE MATTER, BUT WOULD SAY THAT A 'TRANS-WOMAN IN HOMELESSNESS AS WELL HAS A 100% RISK OF BEING TREATED AS VIOLENTLY AS CIS-FEMALE WOMEN "ON THE STREETS," OR MORE-SO. . . INDEED THE GENERAL SHUNNING BY 'STRAIGHTS' AND PROFESSED 'GAY' MEN 'MAKING-HOT-MOVES' ON ME 

DOES SUGGEST THAT

A TARGET I-CAN-BE-AGAIN

SHOULD I NEED AGAIN TO SLEEP UNDER THE ROOF OF SKY WITH HARD EARTH OR ASPHALT OR CONCRETE ON WHICH TO-BED.
