PTSD IS 414%+ HIGHER AMONG HOMELESS IN USA THAN EUROPE, ACCORDING TO WORLD-SURVEY, SUGGESTS THAT SAFETY-NET HELPS ALLAY DISTRESS
There is a type of social research (as well as research re non-humans) called systematic analysis, which is by degree quite like what is called 'meta-analysis'=> the gist of such study is to determine the overall effect of a-factor/factors given a large number of studies, usually published studies.
I do not think that the variance in resultingly reported PTSD is consistent enough to warrant a notion that in-this-world, the rate of PTSD among the homeless is comparable-directly to that of the United States: rather what I sense is that social-conditions, in particular the-social-response, to homeless condition has much to do with the resulting traumatic-condition from distress. I cannot speak for conditions, really, in Australia, but if the prevalence of PTSD here in the 'States' is about 414% higher than the situation of Europe, with its broader network of social safety-net protections, cradle to grave where no such service system obtains here, I WOULD HAVE TO GUESS THAT THE CULTURE OF THE UNITED STATES, AND PROJECT-ABLY TO AUSTRALIA, IS LESS PROTECTIVE, THUS MORE LIKELY TO OBTAIN HIGHER PTSD RATES AMONG THE HOMELESS;
This systematic review as well suggests that the-closer to being unsheltered the homeless person is, the rate of such mental disorder runs to 90%+; it seems obvious that the POTENTIAL for distress varies directly with two factors: THE DEGREE OF EXISTENTIAL VULNERABILITY FOR THE PERSON and THE KIND OF SOCIALSUPPORTS AND SOCIAL EVALUATIONS THAT OBTAIN IN THE POPULACE WHERE HOMELESSNESS EXISTS.
A "worldwide" estimate of PTSD for the homeless, as in this study, seems to miss an obvious point, namely that HOW THE HOMELESS PERSON IS TREATED BY HIS/HER CULTURE, and HOW-ROUGHLY THE UN-HOMED PERSON IS SUBJECTED TO THE RAWNESS OF BEING AT LARGE WITH SKY AS ROOF, these factors tellingly shape just how much post-trauma distress gets felt by our target cohort.
