HOW-- EASILY-- TO LOSE SOCIAL IDENTITY AS-WITHOUT ID (OR MONEY)=> MY DAYS AS NO-IDENTITY-PERSON REPORTED

At the Free Public Library, the otherwise sweet woman-librarian begins to raise her voice, "Sir! You have asked for a library card several times before; you cannot have a library card without a physical address. Sorry." At the driver's license place called NIA, in the far West-End of Louisville, the applicant is turned away IF NO LONGER HOLDING A GEO ADDRESS; more of the same as in paragraph-above. At the bank, the applicant needs to have a geographic address. At the post-office, from what I understand, one needs have a geo address in order to claim mail, a 'geo-somewhere' is needed, I suppose with ID so-showing. I am less sure about this-one, but do believe that to be eligible to vote in Kentucky, one must have a physical address here. YET!!!! When I had forced eviction from my apartment at 3640 Manslick Road, #18, I was really not given the opportunity to port away my several forms of ID-- driver's license, health insurance card, nor the boxes-full of ident...

REPORT ON TRANSGENDER HOMELESS (Review, with Self-Comparison)

Last year, when the issue of homelessness THEN was only felt distant, when I felt there WOULD BE NO SMART REASON TO EVICT ME AS RENTPAYER, AND A KIND RENTPAYER, AT THAT, the National Alliance to End Homelessness pressed a 'white paper' limning the situation that homeless transgender people experience. I have 'scanned' this article as a fairly-swift reader with more-than-fair comprehension skills, and in summary The article states that the number of transgender people becoming homeless is INCREASING; most of these trannies do not find shelters in which to stay, and correspondingly, the unsheltered majority of them have perils in excess of their comparable cis-gendered homeless folk. The comparison, across the board, is clear that the unsheltered of these are more prone to abuse, being-drug-into-jail, disease and mental disease; moreover THE PERIL FOR BLACK TRANSGENDERED HOMELESS IS EVEN MORE DIRE ON THESE VARIABLES THAN FOR WHITES. The report states that almost 30 trans...

LOITERING as the Eyesore-Homeless Person Must Commit, While Dodging 911=> An UnderReport in 'Homelessness Lit'

It may be accurately surmised that I am scouring the publications, scholarly and popular, on homelessness: I am aware that somehow what I read is rather a 'bad fit' to my personal concerns at the moment. I am yes in the midst of a Covid "hot" place as all homeless shelters probably are, I am yes disdained for what seem to be my "hate-able" girl-dressing as transF, I am yes 'between homes' with no solid fix on where my next domicile will be, I yes have been clubbed by a homeless 'camper' in a way that the over-diagnosing folk would call "PTSD," and all all all that. . . BUT the practical and existential JOB 1 for me is none of these, but rather I am challenged by the fact that by force of circumstance, I must FIGURE OUT HOW TO BIDE TIME IN PLACES WITHOUT GETTING 'SECURITY'/911/TheCops FOR SINGLING ME OUT AS LOITERER <AND THIS COMPLICATED WITH THE MASK MANDATE WITH PSYCHOTIC DISCREPANCY ENFORCED IN SUNDRY PLACES; THE BUS D...

Louisville Buys "Approved Campsite" Downtown for 'Rough Sleepers'=> But What About Positive Recognition of Tenancy-Rights Over Status Quo?

Image
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer just announced that open property has been set aside for 'campers' as I call the homeless people who prefer, or who cannot do otherwise than, sleep out of doors, and not (as I) in a shelter. At this link, I have posited a link to the transcript of this announcement and its speakers there and then. The property is downtown, more properly stated than as being in 'Old Louisville,' and is located at the former site for Roman Catholic Chancery Office, 212 E. College Street. The land is close to me, at St. Vincent de Paul shelter for men (1034 South Jackson Street); it is even closer to the Salvation Army GHQ and the Franciscan Free-Luncheon/Shelter. The City predicts that the campsite will be operational in November of this year. Evidently the Louisville planners/executors fothis campsite idea got 'leads' from the cities of Denver Colorado and Santa Rosa California, which venues report negligible crime etc. associated with this move. I ...

Notes from Reading "Making the Second Pandemic. . ." with Some Comparison to Louisville Homeless, Not-So-Much for My Eviction&Sequel

I THINK TOPIC AT HAND TIES DIRECTLY INTO YASMINE-JUMAA'S JOB ASSIGNMENT AT WFPL, "RACE AND EQUITY ISSUES"=>  Advocates! I DID read "Making the Second Pandemic. . .," the article from the law journal which I forwarded-gmail to you. For the most-part, I have to agree with what the authoress said to this effect, "The pandemic is frequently described as exposing and exacerbating every gulf, divide, and inequity inAmerican society, almost all of them race and ethnicity-based: between those who zoom at home to those who work in fulfillment centers, nursing homes, and meat-packing plants;[ 49] between those who pick up curbside carryout and those who wait in line at food banks.[ 50] Persons of color, already disproportionately under-employed and under-housed, were positioned to be disproportionately injured.[ 51] Prepandemic, that injury was already acute in the distribution of housing that is "affordable" and "available."[ 52] " Moreov...

PTSD IS 414%+ HIGHER AMONG HOMELESS IN USA THAN EUROPE, ACCORDING TO WORLD-SURVEY, SUGGESTS THAT SAFETY-NET HELPS ALLAY DISTRESS

There is a type of social research (as well as research re non-humans) called systematic analysis, which is by degree quite like what is called 'meta-analysis'=> the gist of such study is to determine the overall effect of a-factor/factors given a large number of studies, usually published studies. I note from EBSCO Academic database a systematic review that evaluates the world-/global- prevalence of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); I notice well that there is variety in the determined result across the planet for homeless people, with Australia was 67%, the USA 27%+, and much-lower in European studies 6%+. I do not think that the variance in resultingly reported PTSD is consistent enough to warrant a notion that in-this-world, the rate of PTSD among the homeless is comparable-directly to that of the United States: rather what I sense is that social-conditions, in particular the-social-response, to homeless condition has much to do with the resulting traumatic-conditi...

HOMELESS WHO TAKE-OVER/DWELL IN VACANT BUILDINGS=> WOULD THIS BE OK WITH 'LANDMARK AUTHORITY,' LOUISVILLE KY???

I am following Websites that proffer information about homelessness, in especial, sites that either ADVOCATE for the rights of the un-homed, and too those Websites that allude to resources that the homeless may use to further themselves for providing shelter. There are a lot of sites which have this function, .orgs, .govs and a few but evidently OK .coms. I just found a link that has folks un-homed in Eastern Los Angeles rather 'taking over' vacant properties which (for some odd-seeming reason) are owned by the California Transit Authority (which seems similar to our Louisville Transit Authority of River City TARC). From where I sit now, these in-dwellings have a semi-glow of "burglary" of a sort that might even be acceptable under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at its introit , ". . . it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights  should be protected b...

ONE VET GETS ONE HOUSE FOR HOME; THE MAJOR-PART DOES NOT SO 'SERVE' AND NEED 'SERVICE' FOR MATTERS-DIRE AS WELL!!!

WLKY reports last night that local trade-unions are banding to rehabilitate a house for a homeless veteran ; these seem to be in connection with Habitat for Humanity and other NPO agencies. . . laudable efforts and quite rendered in a spirit of needed and uncommon altruism. BUT!!!! In Kentucky, veterans constitute just under 10% of the state homeless population, in 2020 estimated to be 399 persons of a total homeless population of 4011, according to a federal report . In Louisville, it would appear from a comparable-period report by the City and The Coalition for the Homeless, veterans constitute an even smaller portion of the total homeless-demographic=> just under 6% (5.9%, 85 persons of a total there-counted of 1421 -- noting well that other City reports have it that more than six-thousand people are homeless here) . THE NEED in the Big Picture would the-better consider not just fixing a home for one person/family, which in the sort of case as usual with Habitat for Humani...

WHAT I THINK ABOUT $3MILLION MORE FOR SHELTERS WITHOUT ALTERING THAT WHICH HOMELESSNESS DERIVES STRUCTURALLY-- LORDS OF LAND W CAPRICE&GREED!!!

The City of Louisville announced plans to take one-time Covid19 money and apply it to homelessness in town, a pressing need of course but I have comments to make; the homelessness crisis, here and evidently across the nation is at the tail-end of a housing-crisis, which is of complex dimensions, and I am utterly unsure that mere creation of 'rooves over heads' if indeed a one-time investment will in the long run solve the problem at-fundament. People become homeless, it seems, by the action of Lords of Land, on the one hand to make living-rents as high/expensive as will make real property owners remunerated to the degree so-preferred; on the end of the consumer of rental property, in a way that is less dominant in the North Atlantic tier of states, or perhaps in the Pacific West, it is obvious that what could be considered a slight downturn of finances can net removal/eviction from a property. In MY case, it seems more oblique with regard to the WHY of my eviction, as without ...

Rain Now Will Reign! Rain Will not Stop Me BUT THE MONSOON THIS WEEK MAY STYMIE SLOGGISHLY CYBER-STRATEGEMS!!!

According to Weather Underground and the news media, this week in Louisville will be WET; from now Monday August 16 until next Sunday, we are expected to get showers and thunderstorms. It would appear that the for-me lucky dry spell that we have enjoyed in these Kentucky Dog Days will come to an interruption if not an end, and that I shall have to figure out ways to duck-in/duck-out of semi-monsoon weather here in an important effort to stay-dry. The mission in which I stay-- St. Vincent de Paul-- is of the usual sort expecting that we residents be out every day until mid-afternoon, "rain or shine," and I have been lucky to avoid getting soaked by common summer downpours, not a pleasantry for one who for example must appear in offices and clinics in a way that to non-homeless folk 'looks presentable,' but more to the point, I will do, must do to remain communicative with a cyber-world that in ideal form would benefit by hearing about my haphazard surviving on the str...

Eros and Homelessness=> The Craving for Love Emergent from Roughly Sleeping

I am, perforce of avowal and perforce of 'girl hormones' that take away 'the only thing re which men are interested' (sex, the women say), not excessively interested in 'gender-ing' with anyone; the-girls from this vow I deem rather TOO HOLY for my romance, and the-men simply do not attract my attention in usual ways at-all. My position and stance with regard to my transgenderedF status is over-largely a matter of REPENTANCE, and the clothing I almost always wear (dresses of some length, showing minimal flesh) consists of what I want to show that I HAVE FAILED AT MAN HOOD, FROM 2009 I HAVE FAILED AT BEING A MAN, AND SOLELY IDENTIFY WITH THE BELOVED GENDER TO WHICH/WHOM I AM WITH UTTER RESTRICTION DEDICATED. Nevertheless, I 'get it' erotically from both men (typically in the ShelterWorld in which I dwell) as well as from woman-kind. In all these 'warm exchanges,' I try courteously the 'shrug' the approaches away, but I notice MORE FLIRTS ...

Impossble Surgeries Now to Become Un-Blinding with Cataracts

I am homeless, and-- absent corrective surgery-- I shall go blind. I am indeed, as I have stated herein, blind with cataracts in my right eye, but with the left eye and strong diopter glasses, the left eye's cataract is not so bad and I can read with it. I need cataract surgery. . . .but I am homeless-in-a-shelter and I do not think it will be easy to get time (at least seven days of inactivity) from my shelter due to its confirmed rule that residents will have to 'be out' from the place from about 7no-later-am to no earlier than 3p. This is a commonplace with many Louisville shelters, and certainly I can neither expect to get a breach of 'the usual rules' nor find a better or just kinder place from which to get surgery soon. I saw the   opthamologist  assigned to my by University of Louisville Physicians and my optometrist on Friday, yesterday August 13, which was at a clinic called Lions' Club Eye Center; this Dr. Washington said I best should have cataract s...

YES!!!! LOUISVILLE'S MULTI-FACITED ETIOLOGICALLY-PLURAL HOMELESSNESS I*S* 700+% MORE THAN NATIONALLY

One who visits Louisville downtown for the first time, or visits infrequently as had been the case with myself up to my personal catastrophe on May 12 this year (ejection from home without ID or $1300 at hand that could have gotten me a motel), ONE CANNOT BUT NOTICE THE GREAT DOMINATING VISAGE OF THE-HOMELESS ALL OVER, PARTICULARLY CAMPING BENEATH SUNDRY OVERPASSES IN TOWN. A ccording to Google's summary from the city housing-for-homeless report of last year, 6986 persons are variously (sheltered and unsheltered) in Louisville as of 2017 ; that would be a portion/population of  6986 /617790 = .01130805; PubMed, in a special report re Covid 19 nationally, estimates that the average nightly demographic for 2017 homeless people in the USA is 500000; as then the population of the USA was 325.1million, the fraction corresponding to that-above would be .001537988 , a much lower 'percentage' than here in this town at the Falls of the Ohio River. There is something called an 'o...

U Louisville as Best "Uncharge-able" Place for Me to "Not-Loiter" Now in Call-Security-911 Louisville Re my Homelessness

The homeless shelter in which I stay-- not unusually for its genre-- requires that I leave right at sunrise, that is before 7am, and come back not earlier than 3pm; this means as a retiree that I must find excuse-able places that will be largely if totally immune from 'cops,' particularly the nastiest cops who are security guards, who in my own experience will too brashly try to en-force 'rules and regs' with the command-bearing of one who is dealing with say a murder-case. This is especially true, this overbearing over relative innocence, in the Main Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library. . . What I have experienced there at Third&York lib suggests to me, in a way that may not be excessively 'paranoid,' that my transgenderF station may provoke enforcement of minute, almost unspoken rules that rather have to be 'invented' ad hoc, sometimes with the OK of the library administrators, otherwise with what a person, particularly a homeless person,...

WHAT I HEAR ON THE STREETS AND SEE WITH MY EYES=> Why Some Homeless Choose Rough-Sleeping to Life in a 'Shelter'

I live in a shelter as homeless person; I HAVE briefly needed to do 'rough sleeping' only when refused (as transgender female) bedding in shelters that variously DO take the transF folks (names already heretorfore mentioned in this blog, need not then repeat I think). I ask-around to get a gut-level view of what 'the public' and the homeless themselves regard as the prime or central motivation for this 'camping' as I have striven to call this kind of domicile; in this as well my own impressions as forced participant-observer in Louisville homelessness adds timbre and hue to the surmise I have gotten about these matters of 'having not where to lay one's head' even as homeless Jesus said. As with a lot of 'news' that does not appear in print or electronic media, I happen to use taxicabs for transit, in small part to see how the 'cabbie's view' of this condition frames an attitude not so publicized. I have polled about 8 cab drivers...

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN/HOMELESS=> WHAT ABOUT VIOLENCE CONTRA TRANS-WOMEN LIKE ME???

I am enrolled at the University of Louisville, thanks-be to my own sense of what Abe Maslow called "B-values," and have-now great potential to do research at the 'bibliographic level' if not as foot-soldier doing field research on the homeless in this town, essentially as a participant observer yet with a sense of rigor as a trained social scientist who knows 'how research should be done.' Ekstrom Library at the UL Belknap Campus is a kind of  'second home' to me, a comfortable place in which I can operate at the level that best-boosts my elan as a thinking-person, as career-student with then almost no concern that I am a look-alike-woman or moreover that I am a homeless look-alike-woman, a condition re which I have been informed, and re which with some softened reality as sheltered-homeless can well report. "I am reading the Lit" as scientists say when beginning an empirically-aspiring assay; in searching TheWeb now at Ekstrom, I have parti...

On Seeing A Woman, Deem-able as Eyesore to ChurchPeople on 'TheLord'sDay,' Near-Bare-Breasted-Sleeping at Mass Time for St. Martin of Tours Church

I, homeless but sheltered do too go to St. Martin of Tours (not my Anglican affiliates in Louisville) for Mass around 10am on Sundays that I have been in St. Vincent de Paul shelter for men (on Jackson Street in the 1000-Block); TODAY  AT THE SHELBY STREET @ BROADWAY EXIT-BUS-SHELTER GETTING OFF TO HEAD TO ST. MARTIN'S I SAW A WOMAN LYING ON THE SIDEWALK, WEARING A BLACK BREAST-TOP OF COLOR-BLACK, JUST BARELY MISSING THE DISPLAY OF HER 'MILKERS'. . . We as social scientists know of 'culture shock'-- this psychic disruption was approximately what I felt on sight of this nameless woman, and I suppose that some of the say 200 people who went to 10-o'clock service at St. Martin's-- if not the people passerby on TARC (the Metropolitan Transit Authority buses), if not TheCops, and there too was I. . . One who too slept rough-on-the-sidewalk for the first night in my life on or about the 19tclah of May, the second night that is of claiming but an open sky for my b...

To 'City of Louisville' Interests in Welfare of The-Homeless ('Those Roughly Sleeping)=> RE HOUSING CO-OPs FOR THE RADICALLY-UNDERHOUSED HERE!!!

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- City leaders are launching a four-phase plan to get Louisville's homeless off the streets and into long-term housing. The first phase would create and manage a "Safe Outdoor Space" that would include services to help people find more sustainable housing. The next phase would offer a quick transition to indoor housing in a safe and supportive environment. The plan also aims to create more permanent supportive housing options and increase funding for affordable housing. TO THE CITY/LOUISVILLE, TO COALITIONS-FOR-THE-HOMELESS-ALL, TO THE 'CAMPERS' WHO ARE HOMELESS, NOTICE=> TRY FORMING HOUSING CO-OPS/COOPERATIVES WITH ACCESS TO NO-FRILLS SHELTER, ORGANIZED WITH MEMBERS AS A 'BOARD OF DIRECTORS' WHO HAVE PROVEN RESPONSIBLE AND RELIABLE IN MANAGING AFFAIRS-- CERTAINLY HERE FOLK WHO HAVE NO HABIT WITH ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCES NOW, CERTAINLY THOSE WHO HAVE NO SATYRIAC/NYMPHOMANIAC DYSFUNCTIONS. OTHERS CAN BE 'SMOOTHER SLEEPERS' IN...

WILL??? LOUISVILLE METRO-CITY REALLY COME UP WITH $3BILLION FOR 'PLACE' FOR 'CAMPERS' ' 'Safe, Decent, Affordable and Supportive Housing'

Yasmine Jumaa of local News&Information-NPR station WFPL cites the immanent forced eviction of 'camper-homeless' in Louisville, a process which she says will commence in South Louisville very soon-- I think she said this Shively-area-evident camp will be crashed and destroyed on this coming Monday. She reports that 10 complaints were lodged against the city to have the camp eradicated, and that SOMEWHERE SOMEWAY SOMEHOW THE CITY WOULD COME UP WITH LIKE $3BILLION FOR (VERY LOW-COST) HOUSING. (REALLY, HOW SO? EVEN THIS YASMINE KNOWS THAT CHEAP LOUISVILLE WILL GRUNT AND GROAN NOT TO DO ANY SUCH BILLIONS FOR ANYONE AS CHEAPSIDE-NOW AS I smile smile i am smiling. . .) My enttry for this moment reaches back into what I know to be this Community-so-called-for-Liberty-Justice-4All's moral predicates and presumptions, for verily I am of this culture deeply and by heritage and learning, and can rather predict its motivations (by social-frames as psychologists term the factor, of ...

Covid (Likeliest in the 'Delta-Form') Hits My MissionHouse/Shelter for Men, The Swift Turnover of Different MaleBodies in a Bed NextDoor

I heard on arrival at St. Vincent de Paul Mission/Shelter for men yesterday that one resident had come down with Covid; the missing bed next to my 'room' suggested that the one who had succumbed was a Latino named rather nicknamed "Cuba" (I think his real name was Hernandez), a jolly fellow who gave me no problems for being transgendered-- not a universal where I 'spend my nights.' Cuba was pretty conscientious about mopping our floor, and was not defensive about the ribbing-- in male-pattern-bonding form-- that   that he got from the other (more typically male than I) men up there. He kept an American flag on his wall, and listened to Latino music which to my unlearned ear sounded yes Cuban. Cuba out, somebody new in=> the Shelter here is no place to ass u me that one has a guaranteed hovel in which to take refuge; I learn and relearn that not much in my life and living now is anything but unstably fragile in station. The best I can do now to carve out so...

It has nothing to do with non-payment. So no amount of money can keep you in the apartment, but I do have two of your money orders. You're saying it's for number 20. I have no idea. All I was going to do is return this money to you. I have a money order dated March 1st for 360,000 March 18th for 360. We have not deposited into our accounts or anything. I've been waiting to get those back to you. But yeah, it's just it's a lease termination. Not not a non-payment of fiction. It's a lease ter...
